The Basic Rules of Branding

Personal branding is an important aspect of being able to take control of how the world sees you. Whether it’s your Facebook posts or your own personal website, people are going to draw their conclusions about you by the comments you make as well as the image you present. As you’re building your personal brand, there are some basic rules that you should keep in mind.

First and foremost, you should never try to be something that you’re not. Most people can spot a phony rather quickly, and it certainly doesn’t help build trust. You cannot build a brand on an alter ego or on a personality that is not you always be honest and true to who you really are. Your personal brand is you, and as such, it should reflect you in a way that is authentic

Another important personal branding rule is to make sure that it’s about you. You should never directly or indirectly sell someone else’s brand to your followers. You don’t have to overly promote yourself, but you should make sure that all of your marketing and online platforms are handled in a way that helps create your own brand image without relying on someone else’s image to build recognition for yourself.

Of course, one of your main objectives when building your personal brand is to think long-term. Your personal brand is an asset that will help you now with your current business and personal goals as well as in the future when you’re interested in creating new opportunities. Not only should you be thinking beyond your current position or job, but you should also be making an effort not to rely too much on just one aspect of your brand. In other words, don’t put all of your eggs in one basket.

When Building Your Brand

When you’re building your personal brand, it’s important to be a recognized and trusted authority within your particular field. While you certainly want to portray yourself in a positive light, and make sure that you come across as polished and professional, you should also be thinking about how you can be a leader or influencer in your field. An excellent way to be seen as a leader in your field is to help others. Don’t be afraid to teach others who are up and coming in the industry. Walk people through the processes you use, and give them a helping hand from time to time.

A great way to help create more brand awareness is to create a buzz around yourself. Whether you have a new product or you’ve received certification or accolades in your field, don’t be afraid to promote yourself and what you’re up to. You should be innovative and a leader, but you also want to make sure that you can keep yourself in front of your followers in a relevant manner.

Personal branding requires defining yourself as a leader, this means being a great role model or mentor that others will be able to rely on. When your followers read what you post, they should not only get value from it, but they should see that you have a clear, concise message. One that doesn’t waiver from day to day.

There are Only 3 Things You Own on the Web

Your personal brand is you. It’s about the very essence of how you define yourself as well as how you present yourself to the people you know, and the world around you. While personal branding is definitely an important aspect of setting yourself up as someone who is a leader and in the know with the most up to date information in your field, it’s also important that you make sure that you guard key elements of your personal branding.

For example, as you build followers, you should be taking steps to build an email list. Whether you have people opt in for your newsletter or they sign up for a program, ebook or other resource that you are offering, gathering the email addresses of people who are interested in what you have to offer is an extremely valuable part of doing business in today’s online world. In fact, there are only three things that you actually own when it comes to the internet, these items are your email list, which you should certainly keep updated and secure, as well as your personal blog or website, and, of course, any intellectual property that you have created.

Your email list is extremely important. It contains the email addresses of people who have already shown an interest in the products or information you have to offer. These are the people who you have already made a positive impact on, and who have signed up to continue learning more from you. Whether you intend to sell information products, work together with another individual on a joint venture, or you’re simply going to continue building your tribe and influencing people, this email list can be a valuable asset, now, as well as in the future.

The other asset that is actually yours on the internet is your website. You have control over the images and content that is placed on your site. This website can be your personal branding site or it could be an ecommerce store, but whatever the goal of your website, the information you provide is something you should always ensure is of the highest quality. Whether you sell goods or services, your reputation is on the line. Part of creating a strong personal brand is making sure that you are able to present yourself with integrity and honesty.

Lastly, any intellectual property that has been created by you is something that you can place on the internet. You can offer this content as part of a bonus package, an online course, or even compiled and marketed as an ebook. The products you create can provide an excellent opportunity for marketing to your email list. This type of property is something that can be repackaged in various formats to be used over and over again with various followers as well as when you come together in a joint venture with another individual. The intellectual information you have created can be marketed to your JV partner’s audience, putting your product in front of an entirely new group of individuals.

Build Yourself  by Giving Away Value

A big part of your personal branding should be centered around the value that you can offer others. For example, when you write a blog post, your followers should be able to immediately anticipate that you will be providing them with something interesting and useful. It might be important information about changes in your industry, or it could simply be offering some critical piece of advice on how to improve their own business practices.

With  branding, you’re setting yourself up as a leader, someone who can provide value to those around you. Of course, you don’t have to be a steady stream of free products and services however, you should have something to offer your followers, otherwise, why would they be following you?

Regardless of what type of business you’re in, personal branding can help you build your customer base. You build customers by helping them to have confidence and trust in you and the products you offer. You can build confidence and trust by consistently providing your audience with valuable information and content that is engaging and informative. In other words, you don’t want to just put out content for the sake of creating content, it should be well thought out, and it should deliver something that your readers will be able to walk away from knowing that they’ve gleaned something of value from what you’ve presented.

Whether you’re promoting a new ebook or you’re helping someone who is struggling in the same type of business, you can promote your personal brand by always making sure that you are offering your followers something unique and beneficial. The value you are able to provide is an important aspect of your overall personal brand. It’s essential that people don’t see you as someone who is just looking for the benefits that another customer or follower can provide but, rather, as someone who has a great deal of information and expertise that they are willing to share with others. As a ,atter a fact I am giving away a free vlog here.

Your Relationship with Your Brand

Your  brand is the entire relationship someone has with you, so making sure that you are able to be a good mentor is definitely important. As you build your personal brand, people are going to be looking to you to help guide them in various areas, depending on the type of influence and expertise you have incorporated into your image.

Don’t fall into the trap of thinking that your personal branding is just about you. In fact, a bigger part of your branding might actually be the people who follow you. They are the ones who will make you successful, and they are the ones who will establish you as a trustworthy and credible source of products and services. Never underestimate the importance your followers bring to your personal branding. Instead of focusing solely on you and how your audience can bring benefit to your goals, turn your attention to those who are helping you to create a solid business. When creating content, make sure you leave them wanting more. Always give value, while ensuring that they will want to come back to continue gaining more insight and value from what you have to say.
